FreiRechner works out what self-employed people in Germany actually earn — and what they need to charge to live on it.

Why this site exists

The common gross-to-net calculators are built for employees. They assume an employer contribution the self-employed do not get, know nothing about the minimum contribution base, and omit the deductibility of insurance contributions. Anyone relying on them prices their hourly rate too low.

Funding

The site is funded by ads placed away from the calculators, never between an input and its result. Decline advertising and you get the full functionality with nothing held back.
